Pasta! Come get your whole wheat pasta!! I wish I could just hand out this pasta at my doorstep for whomever is in the mood because I swear your day would get better after a bowl of this outstanding pasta! It has a bit of a history and who would I even be not to share that with you? I don’t want to disappoint anyone so I am going to give you the low down on the inspiration for this pasta.
The person that first introduced this delectable dish to me was my husband. However, he doesn’t call it spicy whole wheat pasta with ground turkey. Nah, he in fact calls it BD pasta as in balls deep pasta. LOL!!! And that is no joke my friends. He and his buddy developed this concoction during anesthesia school a few years back and it has continued to make its appearance in our house ever since. We both love it!
This pasta is totally satisfying and I love the choice of ground turkey in it along with the mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes.
Our kids even love this too as long as I don’t put too much Sriracha sauce in it. The recipe calls for a tablespoon of Sriracha but if you would like to serve this to kids as well, I would suggest cutting that back to 1/2 tablespoon and then add Sriracha sauce on top once served.

Best Spicy Whole Wheat Pasta with Ground Turkey
Ingredients
- 8-10 oz whole wheat thin spaghetti
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 jar Alfredo sauce
- 1 4 oz can sliced mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons chopped sun-dried tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha + more for topping if desired
- Optional: 2 oz water
Instructions
Cook Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente according to package directions. Drain.
Make Sauce
- Meanwhile, in a large skillet brown ground turkey breaking up into smaller pieces until cooked through about 8-10 minutes. Add Alfredo sauce, mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes. Stir to mix.
Combine Pasta and Sauce
- Add pasta and mix in. If necessary add water to thin out sauce a little. Serve pasta with additional Sriracha sauce on top if desired.
