Breakfast cups layered with fresh blackberries mashed together with greek yogurt and muesli topped off with more blackberries and coconut flakes.
Are you a muesli fan? Have you had muesli before? Okay, okay, okay do you know what muesli is? Muesli in its most basic form is a combination of raw oats, grains, fresh or dried fruits, seeds and nuts, and some type of milk. You may or may have not heard it called Bircher muesli. Muesli was created by the Swiss physician whose last name was Bircher-Benner for patients in the hospital.
So, as you can see muesli was not created to be anything fancy but rather to help patients get back to good health. And when you put a fun spin on muesli, it can be pretty to eat also! Treat this blackberry muesli like overnight oats in that you can make it in the evening and grab it to go in the morning and be off to work! Or you can sit down and enjoy it at the table to savor those few minutes in the morning when you can let your stresses go and pretend you don’t have a worry in the world.
The mashed fresh blackberries and yogurt alone are dreamy as evidenced by the pic above. I really love good fresh blackberries. I also made blackberry overnight oats awhile back and you should check it out! They are so good! Blackberries pack a healthy dose of nutrients.
In a cup of fresh blackberries, you get all kinds of good nutrients. Per cup, blackberries contain about 60 Calories, 14 grams of carbohydrate (8g of that being fiber!), no fat, and 2 grams of protein. In addition, blackberries are high in Vitamins C and K while containing many more vitamins and minerals.
