Good Morning!
It’s Thursday! I love Thursdays! Time to bake! I think you are going to like this one! I have been working on a perfect brownie recipe to finish off the day after a hard day’s work…I mean who couldn’t use a bite of brownie after work and all the hustle and bustle of today’s world! I am sure I have gained a few pounds perfecting this recipe..I mean brownies for breakfast is not my usual but I am willing to sacrifice at times to produce a wonderful treat for YOU! 😉
I love being in the kitchen and creating new things that are delicious and still provide some nutritional value so I am going to emphasize the dark chocolate I used in this recipe! Why not!! Phytochemicals are present in dark chocolate and can help prevent heart disease. That being said, take into consideration these brownies will not prevent heart disease! A couple spoonfuls of dark chocolate chips…why not take care of that afternoon chocolate craving and be satisfied! You could also eat red beans for that matter which contain more phytochemicals than dark chocolate but c’mon who actually craves red beans!? However, everyone needs a bit of sweetness in their life and this is just the recipe!!!
Before I start baking, it is always best to turn on Pandora and crank up the music to get you going! It just puts me in a good mood!! Now it is time to start baking these amazing dark chocolate brownies.
Dark Chocolate Brownies
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons Starbucks Mocha flavored ground coffee
- 10 ounces dark chocolate
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line 9x13 baking pan with parchment paper.
- 2. Combine chocolate and coffee in small saucepan. Cut butter up into small pieces and add it to choclate and ground coffee. Melt chocolate, making sure to stir constantly. When melted, mixture should be smooth.
- 3. Remove saucepan from heat and add granulated and light brown sugars. Use a hand whisk to mix ingredients together. Mixture will be grainy.
- 4. Add mixture to stand-up mixer with whisk attachment. Add 2 of eggs and beat on medium power for good 10-15 seconds. Add remaining 2 eggs and vanilla and beat another 15 seconds, stopping once to scrape sides of bowl. This step is important for the consistency of brownies.
- 5. Combine flour, salt, cocoa in small bowl. Add to brownie mixture and using a rubber spatula, carefully fold in flour mixture just to the point when you can barely see any more flour.
- 6. Pour batter into pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Remove and place in refrigerator for 1/2-1 hr to cool before cutting into brownies.
