A weekend of clouds, fun, and a lot of dirt bikes screaming!
We have been in the motocross racing scene for just a couple months now and I have to say the people that make this go are AMAZING!! It’s all about getting your kids out to the track and having some fun and that’s it. Isn’t it dangerous people always ask, and yeah it is but so is football and the relationships built around the track are some of the best that you will ever encounter.
So when I get asked why I let my kids ride dirt bikes, I guess the answer to that question is because it builds character, confidence, and a whole lot of discipline into these young boys’ lives.
We spent the weekend at Pleasanton Motocross Grounds in Pleasanton, NE. This was the boys’ 3rd race ever. They raced their 1st at Alma, NE and second in Wauneta, NE just this summer. We are just getting started and it feels like we already have a community of new friends.
The boys started riding a year and a half ago. They both started out riding Honda 50cc bikes and Collin being older has progressed to a Cobra 50cc and just recently got a KTM 65cc bike. Motocross is definitely a sport where you have to invest a lot of money but along with that investment comes a lot of smiles. We spend multiple days of the week at the track every summer, spring, fall, and winter days possible. Is it hard work? YOU BET! Is it worth it? DEFINITELY!!
The weekend consisted of two race days. Each day was scored separately. Collin raced the peewee open class and 7-8 year old class and Parker raced in the 4-6 year old class. In the peewee open Collin got 2nd and then 6th so 4th overall and he placed 3rd and then 2nd with 2nd overall in the 7-8 year old class. Parker got 3rd and 4th in the 4-6 year old class for 4th overall.
On Sunday, Collin placed 3rd overall in the peewee open after 2nd and 5th place finishes. He placed 2nd overall in the 7-8yo class after 1st! and 3rd place finishes. He was so pumped when he got first in the first moto. Parker placed 3rd and 4th in the 4-6yo class for a 4th place finish overall. Parker is gradually improving his technique and speed and it is so cool to see how far he has come in a year!
We are looking forward to a few weeks off so we can keep practicing before the next moto! The boys had so much fun and loved that all of their grandparents were able to come watch along with a couple uncles, aunt, and lots of cousins!!!
