2019 has come to an end. I can barely grasp how fast this year has gone for us! We have had so many wonderful memories and I look forward to all that 2020 will bring. The start of a new year always makes me stop and realize how much more I love this blog every year.
I am so excited for all of the new and exciting changes that will be in store for 3SS this year and I hope you guys will be too. But first let’s talk about what we will be having on New Year’s Eve…this incredibly tasty but also simple New Year’s Eve Snack Mix. My 7 year-old could put this together and it would still taste just as wonderful which is just the kind of snack I am looking for on a day like today because it has been pretty hectic around our household since Christmas break started.
We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at home since my husband was on-call and let’s just say he was needed much more at the hospital than planned. However, I was still happy on Christmas morning after 5 hours of sleep to find myself making my Cinnamon Roll Twisted Snowflake Bread and Sausage, Egg, and Croissant Breakfast Casserole. The grandparents sure loved them too! But I’m not so sure they loved all of the lego sets they got roped into doing with the grandkids quite as much. Haha!
The kids toy supply has quadrupled or so it seems. I want to know how you guys manage the toy surplus this time of year? Do you open them all up right away or do you save some of them for a rainy day when the kids complain of boredom? I am currently in the process of weaning out some of their old toys to donate and holding on to some of their new toys to save for another day to enjoy. As much as I hate to get rid of some of their toys, I just don’t think they need to have so much. Less is more when it comes to that sort of thing in my book.
We spent this past weekend in Hastings with family and got dumped on with snow and ice. It was so pretty but the trip back to Kearney yesterday certainly was one of the most stressful drives I have ever made. I don’t and will probably never understand people’s motives when they fly by you at 60mph with ice on the road? I may have looked like your Great Aunt Lucy driving a steady 40mph in the right lane but after witnessing two near crashes 50 feet in front of me over the last 48 hours I will continue to drive cautiously with snow and ice on the road. Call me crazy!!
Let’s just say if this batch of New Year’s Eve Snack Mix would have been in front of me I would have crushed the whole thing. I was on the edge of my seat the entire trip and thankfully had 3 children sleeping through most of the trip because I may or may not have sounded like a sailor throughout the last half of the trip.
Hope you all have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve!!
