Overnight oats with a cherry on top!! 😉 Hotel style! I only have a handful of dishes to work with so if you do not have a mason jar no worries! Grab a sealable plastic container and get going on these fabulous oats!
This is the kind of breakfast that makes you want to get up outta bed on a Saturday morning, grab your cup of jo, and sit down with a good book while enjoying your bowl of oats. Oatmeal is a smart breakfast choice! Whole oats are the way to go because they do not contain all of the added sugar that is in the instant packets. I am totally into cold overnight oats these days! I would actually prefer cold oatmeal to hot. My college self would probably give my current self the stink eye for eating cold oats. Cold overnight oats are so good!
This recipe calls for just six basic ingredients! Grab ’em and you are on your way to a fantabulous bowl of overnight oats!
Here is what this oatmeal has goin on:
- Whole Oats
- Skim Milk or your preference
- Vanilla Yogurt-prefer Chobani Greek Vanilla
- Cherries, fresh or frozen
- Cinnamon
- Chia Seeds
Oatmeal and I go way back. I am a lil reluctant to admit that I used to eat a lot of oatmeal in college. Sometimes even 3 times a day. I currently have a “I’m being judged look on my face,” but we are like friends now, right? 😉 I was particularly obsessed with banana bread and cinnamon roll oatmeal. Yes, they were in the packets. Again, I have the “I’m being judged” look on my face! Hahaha!
Back in college, I remember being victim to the freshman 15. I mean c’mon, all you do in college is study and eat-how can you not fall into that at first? Anyhew, my sophomore year I really got into running. a lot. Running took away my stress and freshman 15 so it was a win-win! At some point in there I discovered that I actually liked oatmeal. Even after college when I moved in with my bestie, Molly, I held onto my love for oatmeal and believe I passed it on to her!! We trained for and ran the Lincoln Marathon together! Molly was the best person ever to run with!! Somehow we could be running 5, 15, even 20 miles together and I could find myself laughing! It was AWESOME! You wanna guess what our usual post-run meal was…whole oats topped with fruit and yogurt! DE-LISH!
Cherry on Top Overnight Oats…TRY ‘EM!! 🙂 For a salty and sweet treat, try these topped with crushed pretzels! YUMMAY!
