A sweet treat that’s also healthy! We are winning in every way possible right now. Don’t get me wrong because I have absolutely nothing against sweet treats that are more traditional. And when I say traditional I mean made with real cream, butter, sugar, whatever it may be. We all need a little bit of the more “traditional treats” in our lives every now and then. But right now I am drooling of this 4- ingredient peanut butter nice cream!
Nice cream refers to a vegan version of the treat you know as ice cream which so happens to be dairy free and fruit based. Bananas certainly add to the creaminess but I have learned that coconut milk also helps. This is especially true if you can scoop off the coconut cream on top of the can of coconut milk.
The four ingredients you need for this magical recipe are:
- Bananas
- Coconut milk
- Creamy peanut butter
- Mini chocolate chips
That’s all it takes to make the magic happen. No mess with an ice cream maker either. Just pull out a high-powered blender and watch your nice cream dreams come true. I will be the first to admit I was a skeptic about this stuff. But, one bite and I was like “No way!” It’s absolutely delicious.
The best way to make this recipe calls for freezing your banana “coins” for at least four hours prior to blending up your ingredients. I have made it with bananas that were frozen for 5-6 hours and bananas that were frozen for days in the freezer. Both methods produced the same delicious and cream peanut butter nice cream. Freezing the bananas first ensures you will have ready-to-eat nice cream. You can also freeze it for later though.
All of my kids loved this peanut butter nice cream. It’s creamy just like real ice cream and in the summer my kids never turn down ice cream.
I may be a bit behind the times but I truly have never made this stuff before and now I feel like I have opened up a whole world of future nice creams to come my way and it’s super exciting.

4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Nice Cream
Ingredients
- 4 bananas, ripe and cut into coins
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips dairy free to keep recipe vegan
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
Instructions
- Arrange banana coins on a rimmed baking sheet so they aren't touching and freeze for 4-6 hours.
- Add bananas, coconut milk, peanut butter, and chocolate chips to a high-powered blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Serve right away or freeze for later use.
