Grilled turkey burgers with sliced avocado and a fried egg on top that are nothing short of delicious and deserve to be on your summer grilling menu.
Ever wonder why the homemade turkey burgers aren’t quite like the restaurant ones? This is a wild guess but I’m thinking it’s because they add in some fat to get that juicy beef burger factor back into play. Well, for me it’s hard to order a turkey burger at restaurants if I’m trying to pick a healthy choice because most likely it’s not as healthy as I am imagining.
For this reason, I decided a mouth-watering turkey burger was a must for my blog. This one is outstanding! It’s both delicious and healthy for you.
The flavor combos of the avocado and the fried egg with the turkey patty are right on point if you ask me! However, if you can not stand the runny fried egg situation then a little ketchup on top works just fine too. But if you enjoy fried eggs like the best of ’em then this burger is totally for you.
How are you guys enjoying your spring so far? I can’t get enough of this weather! It’s just amazing. I love the cool and mild mornings with the birds chirping away and my flowers looking good (I just planted them two days ago so they are still alive!) The best part of spring days are the evenings that still cool down just a bit so I can literally enjoy being outside for hours playing with the kids and get supper going on the deck. C’mon does it get any better than this??

Ingredients
- Hamburger Buns
- 1 Avocado peeled, pitted, and sliced
Fried Eggs
- 4 Eggs
- 1-2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Turkey Burgers
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1/4 cup yellow onion chopped
- 1 teaspoon Ancho chili powder or chili powder
- Zest of 1 lime
- 1/4 cup cilantro finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon jalapeño finely chopped
Instructions
Burgers
- Preheat grill to 400℉.
- In a large bowl, combine all turkey burger ingredients and mix until well incorporated with either your clean hands or a wooden spoon.
- Shape into 4 equal patties.
- Transfer to grill, close lid and cook for about 7 minutes or until grill marks appear on bottom and flip with a metal spatula. Cook burgers for about another 7 minutes or until thermometer reads 165℉.
Fried eggs
- Meanwhile, in a large skillet, melt butter over medium high heat. Once melted add eggs carefully to skillet as not to break the yolks. Reduce heat to medium.
- Cook eggs until whites are set and yolks jiggle just a bit when you shake the pan. Times really vary depending on the level of heat you use and how runny you would like your eggs.
- Remove from heat.
Assembly of Burgers
- Place avocado slices on bottom bun halves, followed by turkey burgers and top with fried eggs. Enjoy!
