Ah, I feel so refreshed after the family vacation to Breckenridge! We all had such a great time but it is great to be back home and blogging!! Whoohoo! As we came home to an empty fridge and somewhat bare cupboards, I thought about what would be fun to make on my day off today. I have really been wanting to put my whole grain white flour to use, so I decided to bake some homemade bread. The result…the best whole grain white bread I have ever eaten with a kitchen that smells absolutely delightful!!
There is something about making bread that just makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. I grew up baking bread and cinnamon rolls with my mom and at my babysitter Cathy’s house. I loved baking from a very young age and now here I am baking bread as a mom and sharing it with my own family. This little kitchen of ours may be small but it sure brings us together every evening.
I love baking bread because for some reason I am obsessed with kneading dough! Kneading dough makes me feel like a real baker, and I secretly wish I was a baker with my own little coffee shop and wonderfully, sweet treats!! Maybe some day…
Homemade bread = smile to my face every time. 🙂
Homemade Bread is AWESOME for a lot of reasons…homemade WHOLE GRAIN WHITE BREAD is OUTTA THIS WORLD!
You can eat homemade bread any time…
1. Eat a slice with a little raspberry preserves on it as my dad would recommend!
2. Make avocado toast with a fried egg on top…yummy!!
3. Cut a slice with a dab of butter on it as an appetizer because this bread is just so darn yummy!
4. Make a fancy sandwich with hummus, turkey, tomato, and lettuce because why not eat as many veggies you can when they are oh so fresh!….
650. Homemade monte cristo sandwich. Um OMG..I am totally making one of those tomorrow!

Ingredients
- 1 package 1/4 ounce active dry yeast
- 2 1/4 cups warm water 110-115 degrees F
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 6 cups whole grain white flour I used King Arthur brand
Instructions
- ACTIVATE YEAST- Heat water to 110-115 degrees Fahrenheit and dissolve yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes and then stir. Add sugar, salt, oil, and 3 cups of flour. Beat until smooth. Add remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time until dough forms.
- KNEAD DOUGH & LET RISE- Turn over onto floured surface. Knead for 8-10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl turning once so both sides are greased. Cover and let rise for 1 1/2 hours or until doubled in size.
- PUNCH DOUGH- Punch down dough and divide into two. Shape each dough half into a bread loaf. Place in two greased 9x5 loaf pans. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes or until doubled in size.
- BAKE BREAD- Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Bread will sound hollow when tapped. Let bread cool on wire racks.
